Choose Privacy

We are a movement of librarians dedicated to intellectual freedom. Led by the American Library Association’s Office for Intellectual Freedom and with the support and involvement of our allies, we are urging Americans to assert their privacy rights.

For over 50 years, ALA has defended the rights of library users to read, learn, and be curious.

Today, our job is to bring people up to speed on their rights in an age defined by information. We invite you into the conversation on privacy. We’ll help you speak out. Our team has created resources and tools for you to learn about your rights and to join the conversation.
