Internet is the just the channel of communication, it’s people’s actions that ultimately create consequences. People are not perfect and it is reflected on the way Internet works.
The danger of networking humanity is not in information exchange but information gathering and covert use. If people would understand how much of personal information is being left online they would start exercising more caution.
Protecting children from abuse and exploitation is primarily parental responsibility and any kind of illegal activity such as child porn has to be completely eradicated from Internet and any information exchange channels. Technically, it is not difficult to do but its not done. Why?
Filtering adult content online is easy to do as well, simply assign .xxx domain extension to all adult sites instead of .com and filtering traffic would be extremely easy. If someone uses .com extension for adult site it would result in immediate ban. Why it isn’t done?
I have seen proof that Hannah Montana is a bad influence on young children.
Mainly the fact that after watching Hannah montana and getting the singing doll and all of the different stuff my cousin has started to imitate pole dancing o_0;;
So yes, I have proof that it is a bad influence for children. Y’know, aside from the fact that Miley Cyrus has all those photos on the web.

No it isnt exactly a bad influence. Depends on the angle you’re looking at really. For one, if there was no Internet today then so many people would have no means to earn money!
I do not think internet as a bad influence. In fact it has helped us live life more comfortably. Although there are disadvantages that the internet brings but it has more advantages that we all can enjoy.
Everything has a positive and a negative sides. What matters is how you make use of it. Elders n the house, especially parents need to be vigilant while their kid uses the computer.

As an internet user we should be responsible on how we would use the information and what information to put.
It really depends if we let ourselves be influenced by what is shown to us in the net.
I personally think that internet is the most convenience way to find information, contact with friends and enjoy your free time like playing game, shopping. Parent should guide and limited the time to access internet for their kids. If they no time guiding their children online, then I din should not apply an internet connection at home which their children can easily access to it….

Agree with you, it depends on how we use it. There are so many people, businesses or something rely on the internet for good. Like me, I have online business of Halloween Contact Lenses. Only minor percentage on people uses it in a bad way.
I certainly agree with the thread starter that kids should be guided when using the net. Parents should watch accordingly the sites that their kids have accessed. Personally, I considered internet is very useful and really appreciate that it was one great way that I have found my life partner now when i used to search and join some of the 10 top rated online dating sites.
